It seems the beauty world can’t get enough of Loreal’s new Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara. Almost every Youtuber has crowned it their new favourite and can’t stop talking about it. This is one of those moments where drugstore brands like Loreal should receive an applause. There’s nothing better than finding a great product at a great price. As this product isn’t in South Africa as of yet it’s something you can look forward to when it gets stocked in our local stores. I’m positive you won’t be disappointed.   Image CreditRead More →

For those interested in highlighting but aren’t eager to spend a hefty price the local pharmacy should be the right place for you. However, there was a problem. Highlighters of a good standard (no glitter flecks and high pigmentation) couldn’t be found at our local pharmacies. For years I tried searching for the reliable ‘drugstore’ product recommendations given by beauty influencers. Sadly South Africa didn’t stock most of the brands and the ones they did stock didn’t have the product I was searching for. It wasn’t until this year that I noticed excellent products popping up in the stores. The L.A. Girl Strobe Lite StrobingRead More →

Shade selection Picking the most suitable highlighter for one’s skin tone is essential for a natural look. Nevertheless, there is a multitude of shades one can choose from if one favours a less natural look – from yellow to black to rainbow and so forth. Highlighting found a solid foothold in the beauty industry years ago and has since then become an essential step in any makeup routine. For those new to the concept, highlighting can be daunting but if correctly approached and executed it is something that can make all the difference.  But what is highlighting? Typically one would apply a product with luminous properties to areas of the face that light would naturally highlight or where more attention would want to be attracted. These areas are: the top of the cheekbones, below the arch of the eyebrow, the undereye area, the cupids bow, the nose, chin and centreRead More →

Shaving’s one of those things I have a love-hate relationship with. Yes, smooth legs are sensational but do I necessarily enjoy doing it every week? – that would be a no. Sometimes I just can’t see the point of shaving. What’s fun about having little scabs at your ankles that make wearing shoes uncomfortable or removing the glorious layers of your summer tan? It also takes up a lot of time that we can probably invest into something more beneficial. When was the last time you noticed that someone didn’t shave? I find it interesting that most people don’t notice anything. We’re all probably concentratingRead More →

Glossy eyelids. Ever heard of them? The high fashion industry has yet again produced another makeup trend that has crept into our hearts. To my surprise, this isn’t a new trend, but it has resurfaced and regained popularity. Even celebrities, like Kylie Jenner, have contributed their share. Thankfully, the trend has been distilled into a wearable form that simply entails gliding lip gloss over your eyelids. Brands like Milk Makeup created an ‘eye vinyl’ that has the same effect. Mac has a similar product too. It all depends on what look you’re going for and the price you’re willing to pay. I use a Charlie lipRead More →
